PINKing Chevron
Indoor
Hi all!
Today was kind of a hectic day as I made my official return to work (I will be working the whole week) and I had my post partum appointment.
Fortunately, all went well, but after dealing with financial aid applications for the hospital, upset clients, and my Doctor's waiting room was not easy. I needed me a little relaxing time, so it was time to post a mani! As promised, I am continuing to use the bright colors that I have in my polish collection. For this post, I decided to do a pattern that I have never done before. For this I wanted to use OPI's Feeling Hot Hot Hot as my bright. I love wearing this color in the spring and summer. It's not quite hot pink, but it's definitely not light. It falls perfectly in between. But you can decide for yourself!
Sunlight
Pink: OPI - Feeling Hot Hot Hot
White/Light Gray: OPI - My Boyfriend Scales Walls
(this color may look light gray depending on the light), topped with
Out the Door - Northern Lights.
This chevron pattern is really easy to do. I bought some Fiskars craft scissors in the "pinking" pattern, and cut strips of scotch tape with them. Make sure you do this first! And make sure it's scotch tape! the clear tape won't work as it is too sticky, and the scissors won't cut through it as easily as it will through scotch tape. What I did was paint the lighter color on my nail first and the start to cut the strips. I was thinking that I was going to give the nail some time to dry while I cut the tape. Don't worry, this was a disaster. The tape kept sticking to the fresh polish and would pull it off. I ended up finishing the strips of chevron, and re doing my polish. Once you are done cutting the strips, you can paint on your polish. I would do the lighter color on the bottom. Make sure that your nail is completely dry before you make the next step.
Is your polish dry now? are you positive?
OK. I trust you.
Now you can take the tape and place it on your nails. Next, take the darker color of polish and put that over your entire nail. make sure that you cover the sides really well so that it doesn't leave any of the color on the bottom exposed. The following step is to take off the tape. Do this as soon as you can, do not wait any time for the top polish to dry. If you do it while the polish is wet, you will have pristine crisp lines. Once the tape is off wait a little bit and you can swipe on your top coat. That's it! now you have beautiful chevron pattern nails :). Let me know what you think!
